Located in Cassville,
NY just south of Utica we bought the farm in July 2004
The photo above
shows the view from the East, looking back at the new free stall barn. To the
right is our house and beyond silos is the second house and some of our dry cows
and heifers on the hill to the left. There are 500 acres of Honeoye and Lima soils
all strip cropped and hedge rows removed.
This view shows
a section of the existing barn that has been removed that will be where the new
parlor and office is being built. The existing barn to the right will house baby
calves and the barn to the left will be a box stall area for our best cows.
Photo taken
Jan 9th, 2005. The barn is basically complete and we enjoy milking in the
new Swing 11 DairyMaster
Parlor. The lower end of the barn has been converted to individual
calf stalls for 36 calves and group pens for younger heifers. The upper
part of the barn has been converted to 9 box stalls to house 20 of our
top cows.
Photo taken January
2007, shows the addition to the freestall and tries to
show the new coverall building but due to conditions is hard to make out.
We are making a conversion to cow mats and bedding with sawdust. A new manure
holding structure will be constructed this spring.
The DairyMaster Swing 11
parlor now in operation
Another shot of the parlor
This shot shows another
view of the same area. Our house is in the trees area to the left of the barn.
The silos will be taken down after they are emptied.
